Ippudo's Ramen

Welcome to Ippudo, the much raved about ramen from Japan.

Be warned that you'll have to queue around 30mins or more to get to try their food.

As you enter, you'll notice one side of the wall adorned full of ramen bowls in all shapes, sizes and colors. On the other side of the wall, you'll notice three big panels of manga in different languages (Jap, English, and Chinese). There are some two-seaters, few four-seaters, and then few big tables where you'll probably be placed there to share the table with other people, especially if you have a big crowd.

We ordered the sesame cucumber appetiser which cost slightly less than $10.

Sprinkled with sesame and chilli powder, and soaked in sesame oil, the cucumber slices taste rather refreshing against the savoury flavouring. Though it didn't taste as good as the one I had in Japan, this was as good as it gets.

As for the ramen, we ordered the red miso ramen. Another choice available is the white miso ramen. Both cost around $15.

The soup base was wonderfully flavoured. The few slices of meat was soft and tender. The ramen was springy. There wasn't a lot of ingredients added to the ramen, but it was still very filling. It was also my first time encountering Jews' ears (the black blob on the top left side of the photo) added to ramen. The combination was rather... interesting.

Though we only had a bowl of ramen each on top of the cucumber, we were pretty full and there wasn't stomach left for anything else. I'll definitely go back, but preferably, when the queue isn't that long anymore or when I have more patience.
