2009 Reflections

One more hour and it'll be the end of 2009.

Before I open my K-On! new year package from Japan, before I start celebrating a brand new year and life, I'd like to count my blessings and thank God for this year.

Lunch @ Paradise Inn

Step into Paradise Inn and be greeted with a whole range of matching Chinese cutleries and furnitures. As you sit down on little red stools, you'll be served freshly steamed peanuts. This is irregardless of whether you've placed any orders for it or not. Of course, at the end of the day when the bill comes, you'll then realised that the yummy peanuts which you so hungrily devoured while waiting for your food to arrive is not complimentary.

The Pandora Box

pGame of the moment: Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box

Professor Layton is back!!! While some of the puzzles are rather challenging, the rest of them are much easier than the puzzles in Professor Layton and the Curious Village.

Did I also mention that the graphics are much better too?

I really like the story plot and this time round, there are more mini games, which are all rather interesting and fun! You get to collect ingredients along the way to brew tea for the characters you meet in town.

All in all, a very satisfying game!! When will the next Professor Layton be out? Can't wait!

Avatar

Movie of the moment: Avatar

It's a looooooooong show! It's probably necessary, I guess. No point having a part 2 when you can just spend 1 hour more to finish up the story. Plus... if there's a part 2 I probably wouldn't want to sit through it.

So... what's all the hype about? I love the fantasy world created, the little details put into creating this world, this tribe. I love it how with every step you take, the ground kinda emits a bluish light. I love how you can connect to other beings with just a little flower-like thingy in your hair. I love the chants. I love the exotic new age songs.

There's action, there's fantasy, there's romance, all mesh into one. I wouldn't say it's a must-watch though. It was nice enough entertainment.

Merry Christmas~

Met up with Ada for Christmas!

Elementary, My Dear Watson...

Movie of the moment: Sherlock Holmes

credits:wikipedia

Robert Downey Jr, Jude Law, Rachel McAdams... a very strong cast... and very well-casted too! Plot is amazingly well paced, you'll never be bored for a moment. I love that Robert Downey Jr is the one playing Sherlock Holmes, and he certainly exudes the right kind of charm. I love the boxing scene where Sherlock was calculating how much to retaliate and everything goes slow-mo. And then when he actually did do it, the whole scene changes to action.

Jude Law is one of my fav guys to watch out for. I love his image in this show with the moustache and all. I love how he plays Watson as a cool guy, as though nothing fazes him. I love it the Watsons character basically. Though I'm not too sure what his love affair has got to do with the plot.

I've been looking out for Rachel McAdams since The Notebook. Her sweet looks is very suitable for this role since it becomes very deceiving that a sweet girl like her can be so scheming. It becomes believable that she was able to outsmart someone as sharp as Sherlock Holmes.

Definitely a must-watch. And why do I get this feeling that there may be a part 2 coming up?

Dreams Do Come True!

Up till now I still cannot believe that I actually went Japan! I've always wanted to go, but somehow, never gotten round to it. Thank you Mr こいびと for making it possible and helping me realise my dream!

@ Hakone

in Tokyo~~~

Bags!!!

I've always got a thing for bags. Some girls spend their money on cosmetics, some girls spend their money on shoes. I spend my money on bags~~~ If only money wasn't an issue, I would have bought all the nice bags I saw in Japan~~~

I got a new wallet~~~ after years of not using a proper wallet~~~
I'm back from Japan~~~

ただいま~~~

Babe Warriors

Anime of the moment: Shin Koihime Musou

credits:wikipedia

If you've watched season 1 - Koihime Musou, and like it, you'll probably like this too. Nothing much has changed. The same old characters (with one or two more new ones), but different adventure. There's something about pretty anime girls who can fight that appeals to me.

And when you get a whole cast of females, there's bound to be yuri content.

Still, I really like this. Action + comedy + fan service is definitely the formula to a successful anime!

Japan Japan Japan~~~

I'm leaving for Japan~! (\^v^/)

Gonna miss Baby! またね!!

Pigeons

I shot some pigeons...

with a very heavy gun...(-__-")

Italian Mafia

Movie of the moment: Gomorrah

credits:wikipedia

Crime crosses all barrier. You don't need to understand Italian to be able to sense the tension throughout this film. Of course it helps that there are subtitles in English.

An eye-opener for someone holed up in safe, cozy little Singapore like me, I cannot even being to fathom having to lead a life as such, always having to check your back, always looking around you before dashing out of the house, always double locking your door and not let anyone you don't know it. And of course, statistics have already proven people are usually murdered by someone they know, not random strangers, which is even scarier.

I spent the whole film sitting on the edge of my chair, biting my nails and silently screaming "NOOOooooooo...."
